Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday broke his silence on Kashmir Valley unrest and appealed for peace and harmony, asking the youth to keep it as 'heaven on earth'.Addressing a rally after visiting Chandrashekhar Azad's birthplace in the tribal-dominated Alirajpur district in Madhya Pradesh, Modi said, "India loves Kashmir, but some people there are causing it a lot of harm."
Further stating that the freedom that every Indian enjoys also belongs to every Kashmiri, he said, "It is very painful to see that youths, who should have laptops, cricket bats, being handed stones.""My government believes in Atal Bihari Vajpayee's mantra of 'insaniyat, jamhuriyat and Kashmiriyat' (humanity, democracy and Kashmiriyat)," Modi added.
The Prime Minister also said that be it the Jammu and Kashmir government under Mehboob Mufti or the Central Government, they would find a solution to all problems through development..
Curfew in some parts and restrictions in the rest of Kashmir remained in force for the 32nd day on Tuesday. As many as 55 persons, including two cops, were killed and several thousand others were injured in the clashes between protestors and security forces.
PM Modi's remarks came a day after opposition parities questioned his silence and urged the government to call an all-party meeting to discuss the Kashmir issue. They also suggested sending an all-party delegation to Srinagar to take stock of the situation.
